What if your child didn’t dread writing? It’s possible. Give your child a purpose for their writing and a space to share and they may experience a transformation that turns writing from chore to a habit.

Prerequisites:

  • Students should be decoding, blending, segmenting, and reading.
  • Students do not need to be proficient in spelling to participate.

*Parents are asked not to use the journal as a time correct spelling.

  • Each class will begin with a story book or a short video.
  • Learners will be asked to brainstorm their thoughts about specific questions related to the topic so that “I don’t know what to write” isn’t a valid response. 😉
  • Learners will be asked to write in their journals using prompts and then given the opportunity to share.
