ELA Workshop: Spelling

Decoding is the not same as encoding which means that reading is not the same skill as spelling. In fact, many student who can read well struggle with spelling. If your student needs to work on spelling 2nd grade and 3rd grade level sight words and multi-syllabic words, join this workshop. Each week, we will focus on spelling only.

Foundations: Phonics

Get excited about what’s in a book. In this program, we work on print concepts, letter sounds, and word families so that children have a strong foundation in the basics of reading. Students will practice identifying and pronouncing letters, blending sounds, and reading simple sentences aloud using phonics. This is a learning to read class.

Each week, students should expect read aloud, learn new topic-specific vocabulary, and review a grammar concept. Review weekly topics in the course catalog.
